When Jesus came to earth, He did not come to be served but He came to serve. He didn’t stand alone in His ministry but He got up front and personal. He wasn’t afraid to get His hands dirty to help others. At one time He made clay and anointed a man’s eyes, he wrote in the sand on another occasion and He also washed His disciples’ feet. He touched people at their needs, He laid His hands on the sick and they were healed. He also touched a leper and healed him. He freed people from demon possession and He even raised the dead!! Jesus also taught the people the truth in a time when truth wasn’t being taught and also fed many people. He wasn’t afraid to associate with sinners and the outcasts of life, plus He also loved His enemies.
Then He did the unthinkable; He allowed himself to be beaten,
whipped, spat upon and a crown of thorns to be jammed on His head and be hung
on a cross to die, not only for His friends but His enemies and for all that
sinned, which was everyone that was ever born. He wasn’t just a god that expected people to
cater to Him, but He cared for them enough to not only touched them with
compassion and love but He also gave His life, a ransom for the sins of all
people so that every person who trusted in Him could be set free of the curse
of sin that was on their lives. A man,
who was without sin, took the sins of man upon Himself and shed His blood to be
our sacrificial Lamb, then was buried and rose again. God’s Word says without the shedding of blood
there is no remittance, or forgiveness, of sins. The just for the unjust, there is no other god
or deity that can claim this! The blood
that Jesus shed still has the power to cleanse and purify the heart of man and
though man’s sins be as scarlet, His blood will make it white as snow.
Read Isaiah 1:13-20:
“Bring no more vain
offerings;
incense is an abomination to me.
New moon and sabbath
and the calling of assemblies—
I cannot endure iniquity and solemn
assembly.
Your new moons and
your appointed feasts
my soul hates;
they have become a
burden to me,
I am weary of bearing them.
When you spread forth
your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
even though you make
many prayers,
I will not listen;
your hands are full of blood.
Wash yourselves; make
yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your doings
from before my eyes;
cease to do evil,
learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;
defend the fatherless,
plead for the widow.
“Come now, let us
reason together,
says the Lord:
though your sins are
like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red
like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
If you are willing and
obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land
but if you refuse and
rebel,
you shall be devoured by the sword;
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
In this situation people were sacrificing for their sins but
they weren’t sorry for their sins and they were being disobedient. When people continue to disobey and sin, God
will not hear their prayers and will not accept their gifts or their sacrifices.
These people were worshiping idols, which
were no gods at all, and God was not happy with them. Did He love them? Yes, He was trying to get their attention and
get them to repent. God thinks of His relationship
with His people as a marriage, because He loves them. Their devotion to God was diluted by idolatry.
Read what Revelation 19:6-10 says about God’s people being
the bride of Christ:
“Then I heard what
seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and
like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying,
‘Hallelujah! For the
Lord our God the Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and
exult and give him the glory,
for the marriage of
the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made
herself ready;
it was granted her to
be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure’—
for the fine linen is
the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the angel said to
me, ‘Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of
the Lamb.’ And he said to me, ‘These are true words of God.’ Then I fell down
at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, ‘You must not do that! I am a
fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus.
Worship God.’ For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
To have a successful relationship there has to be a commitment
to one another and also an understanding of one another which takes time and
effort and also sacrifice on both parties involved. And, at times you will have to repent and say
you are sorry and mean it, for the relationship to be repaired. Now think of your relationship with the Lord,
when it has become broken because of unfaithfulness, in order for it to be repaired
you will have to repent and ask the Lord to forgive you also, and truly mean it.
Now think of how you were created in God’s image and
likeness and how sin has separated you from Him because God’s Word says that
all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God. Jesus came so that we could be in right
fellowship with God since our relationship was broken because of sin. This is another situation where we should want
to repent, which means to turn away from our sins and go in the other direction,
and ask the Lord for forgiveness of our sins and thank the Lord, in all
sincerity, for what He suffered to make this possible for us and ask Him to
come into our hearts and lives and to be our Lord and Savior. I hope if you do not know Him or if you are
backslidden, you will make this choice today!!
I have given you something to think about and I pray that
you will make the right choice. May the
good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!! And, don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord,
for He is worthy!!
