A Sobering Truth

Everyone will die someday and then the judgement.  It doesn’t matter how important you are or how influential or how rich or what kind of job you have or anything of that nature, we will all give an account of what we did while in this life.  The books will be open and we will all stand before the King of kings and the Lord of lords where there will be no excuses.  If your name isn’t found in the Lamb’s Book of Life you will be separated from the Lord forever and that will be a terrible situation to be in.

Read what it says in Revelation 20:11-15, “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

I am not a Bible scholar but if you read Revelations chapters 19 and 20 you can see that this will not be a happy time for many, but for those that have put their trust in Jesus and have been covered by His precious blood and covered by His righteousness, it will be a joyous and beautiful time, praise the Lord!!  They with spend eternity with the Lord and nothing will ever harm them again.  I don’t want you to be confused about this, we are not saved by our good works, but we are saved unto good works.

Read what it says in Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

This is the true believers identity in Christ, taken from my King James Life Application Bible:

Romans 3:2               We are declared “not guilty” of sin
Romans 8:1               No condemnation awaits us
1 Corinthians 1:2       We are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 1:30       We are pure and holy
1 Corinthians 15:22     We will rise again
2 Corinthians 3:17       We are free from trying to be saved by being good enough
2 Corinthians 5:17       We are brand new people inside
2 Corinthians 5:21       We are full of God’s goodness
Galatians 3:28            We are one in Christ with all other believers
Ephesians 1:3            We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heaven
Ephesians 1:4            We are holy, faultless and covered with God’s love
Ephesians 1:5,6          We belong to Christ
Ephesians 1:7            Our sins are taken away and we are forgiven
Ephesians 1:10,11      We will live with Christ forever
Ephesians 1:13           We are marked as belonging to God with the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 2:6            We have been lifted from the grave to sit with God forever
Ephesians 2:10           We have been given new lives
Ephesians 2:13           We have been brought near to God
Ephesians 3:6            We will receive great blessings
Ephesians 3:12           We can come fearlessly into God’s presence
Ephesians 5:29,30      We are part of Christ’s body, the church
Colossians 2:10          We have everything because we have Christ, we are filled with God
Colossians 2:11          We are set free from our evil desires
2 Timothy 2:10           We will have eternal glory

Don’t be deceived, we will all stand before the Lord someday and now is the time to get serious with God.  The good news is that God has given us a free will to choose; He loves us so much that He doesn’t force us to choose against our will but allows all of us a choice.  As long as we are breathing, we can make that choice, but until you do you will be dead in your trespasses and sins.

Read Ephesians 2:1-8, “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”

One thing you can be sure of, if you don’t go to heaven to be with the Lord it will be no one’s fault but your own, because you chose to reject the Lord in this life.  The Lord doesn’t force people to make that choice, we decide for ourselves here in this life where we want to go, but He does know what our choice will be because He knows all things.  Hell wasn’t made for man; it was for the evil one and the angels that followed him.  God has been very patient through many, many years because He doesn’t want anyone to be lost.

Read 2 Peter 3:1-10, “This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of his coming?’ for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

Read what the Word of God says in Revelations 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

At the time the Lord said this He was talking to the churches in Revelations but I think this could be applied to everyone who wants to get serious with the Lord and seeks a relationship with Him.  If you want to stand before the Lord justified someday, repent of your sins, which means to turn away from your sins and tell the Lord you are sorry and ask Him to come into your heart and life and be your Lord and Savior.  While you are praying, don’t be in a hurry, take your time and let the Lord fill you with His perfect peace, love and joy then you can go forth rejoicing in the Lord.  Then share with others what the Lord has done in your life and start growing in your new found faith. Pray that the Lord will guide you to the church He wants you to worship with and grow with. Something to think about!  May you have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours!! Then start praising and thanking the Lord!!
