A Day of Remembrance

What day can you recall the most?  Was it your wedding day or was it when you graduated or maybe your birthday or when you were born or some other great occasion?  There are many events that take place in a person’s life, some may be happy, some may be sad, but one may stand out more than any other; what day is that for you?

My guess would be, if you are a believer, the day that you were reborn would stand out the most.  Some people start out their day like most any other day, not expecting much to take place outside of the norm, but none of us knows what a new day may bring.  Just put yourself in the disciple’s shoes, or the woman at the well, or Zacchaeus, or any of the other people Jesus healed or raised from the dead, like Lazarus.  What about the people He set free from demon possession, like the demoniac, or Mary Magdalene and all the other people the Word speaks about, each of their days probably started out the same.  But there was something different about the day they had an encounter with Jesus, the Son of God!!  From that day on, each one of their lives were changed and they were never to be the same again.

Read what 2 Corinthians: 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

This is not a makeover, but a rebirth, a new creation in Christ and in time there will be a noticeable change in the person’s life because they are not the same anymore, there has been a transformation taken place in their lives.  To some, this change was unexpected, to others they were seeking a change and it happened.  But regardless of how it happened, it was a miracle and something you will never forget the rest of your life.

Some people will never know the joy of being set free and having their sins forgiven because they will resist the drawing of the Lord and not humble themselves and repent, but will continue in their pride and rebelliousness until it is too late.

Read what it says in 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, “We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

We dare not receive God’s grace in vain which seemed to be happening to some of the Corinthian believers, possibly because of false teachers.  How many times have you heard God’s message but it didn’t affect your life?  God is calling people to Himself, if you hear the call or feel Him drawing you to Him, don’t put it off another day because you may never get another chance.

This was a message to the Jews in their rebellion and sins but I think all of us can learn from it.  It is found in Isaiah 1:18, “‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’”

God’s Word says we have all sinned and fell short of His glory.  Some stains may never be removed but Jesus provided the sin remover and that was His precious blood, nothing else can ever remove the crimson stain of sin from your soul.

God is not looking for sacrifices today; this is what He is looking for, read Psalms 51:16-17, “For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; you do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise.”

If you are sincere about repenting, Psalm 51 would be a good prayer to repeat, David used it and he found forgiveness.  Then ask the Lord to be your Lord and Savior.  Don’t be in a hurry, spend some time with the Lord and let Him fill you with His peace, love and joy!!  Share what the Lord has done with others then start thanking and praising the Lord.  Something to think about!  Have a super day and may the good Lord bless you and yours!!
