Jesus taught on lust when He talked about adultery in
Matthew 5:27-30 saying this, “You have
heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I
say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed
adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it
out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your
members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your
right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more
profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to
be cast into hell.”
In Exodus 20:14 when God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses one
of them was adultery read it yourself, “You
shall not commit adultery.”
Lots of men might not understand this, thinking that if you
lust after a woman, to have her, is not a sin because you haven’t committed the
act literally but Jesus says that you have sinned in your heart. Then some might think that if I have committed
the sin in my mind, I might as well go all the way and physically commit the
act. This way of thinking is flawed or irrational.
Think of it this way, if you sin in your
mind you sin against God by rebelling against Him and His commandment, but when
you commit the act, you not only sin against God and break His law but you involve
the person you commit the adultery with, plus your wife and both families are
hurt by your sin.
There are many men that would never think they would sin
against their wives in that way, but some are addicted to pornography thinking
that they aren’t hurting anyone, so what is the big deal. Lust is the result of watching porn and it can
literally destroy your marriage, making intimacy something it was never meant
to be, causing you to want to experience more and more until you cannot be
satisfied with normal intimacy anymore. When
lust gets out of control, satisfaction is never achieved and abnormal behavior
will result, causing devastation.
Paul said this about fornication in 1 Corinthians 6:12-20:
All things are lawful
unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I
will not be brought under the power of any.
Meats for the belly,
and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body
is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
And God hath both
raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
Know ye not that your
bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and
make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
What? know ye not that
he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one
flesh.
But he that is joined
unto the Lord is one spirit.
Flee fornication.
Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth
fornication sinneth against his own body.
What? know ye not that
your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of
God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with
a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are
God's.”
We have been set free if we are believers, to glorify God in
all things. We also have the power to
resist sin and to flee sexual immorality. If you are into porn or any kind of sexual immorality,
the Lord wants to set you free; repent and ask the Lord to forgive you and set
you free. If you need counseling, seek
to get it so you can get set free. Whatever
you need to do, make the effort and don’t put it off. Something to think about! May the good Lord bless you and may you have a
great day!!
