In Ezekiel 47 it talks about a river flowing from the
Temple. This river flows from the sanctuary
and eventually all the way down to the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea represents deadness where no life
can dwell, so full of salt that nothing can exist there. This reminds me of man in his unregenerate form,
so full of sin, physically alive but spiritually dead with no hope. But when this life giving water from the
sanctuary touches the Dead Sea it becomes renewed, you might say instead of
bringing forth death it teams forth with life.
This also reminds me of the Samaritan woman at the well who
Jesus spoke to about living water. If
all she had was the water from the well that she was drawing from, she would
always be thirsty, physically, but if she received the living water that Jesus
spoke of she would never thirst again, spiritually. This is talking about salvation, which this
woman and all the Samaritans needed desperately, they and everyone else that is
born needs the living water, the new life in Christ.
There is an open invitation in the last book of God’s Word that
says this in Revelations 22:17, “And the
Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let
him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.”
This is an invitation from the Holy Spirit to all who will
come, to those who hear the Word, to those who have a spiritual thirst. Everyone can be saved if they will only trust
in Jesus and His redemptive work at Calvary to save them. Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified for all.
Think of these familiar verses in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the
world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
Now think about the word ‘whosoever.’ That means anyone that will come to Jesus stripping
off their own righteousness (good works) and depending only on the righteousness
of Christ and Him crucified, the only hope of mankind. Maybe you find yourself in the same situation as
the Samaritan woman, always thirsty but never having your thirst quenched, come
and receive the living water. Jesus wants
to give the water that will rise up within you to eternal life.
Possibly while reading this you felt the tug of the Holy
Spirit convicting you of your sins and you want to be set free, the Word says, “whom
the Son sets free, is free indeed.” Jesus
wants to set you free and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Why don’t you stop what you are doing and pray,
ask the Lord to come into your heart and life and be your Savior and Lord. Ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to cover
you with His precious blood, don’t be in a hurry, take your time and let the
Lord’s peace, love and joy fill your soul. Then start praising and thanking the Lord for
what He has done for you and share it with others. Pray and ask the Lord what congregation He would
have you be a part of and start growing in your new found faith.
Something to think about! This Tidbit reminds me of a song that Jimmy
Swaggart sang called, “There Is a River.” Listen to it and let it bless you. Have a super day and may the good Lord bless
you and yours!!
