Today seems to be a day of testing
and a day of judgment. There are many
things that are going on today that many are struggling with. It seems like the enemy is behind much of what
is going on and many are devastated by the events that are taking place.
At one time chewing gum and
talking back were the big problems in our schools but since prayer was eliminated
from our schools, things have dramatically changed for the worse, and as a
result, today our schools have become war zones with bombs, knives and guns
being the choice of weapons and sex, promiscuity, violence and rebelliousness being
the norm. It seems like it’s not just
our schools but there is no place that is safe, leaving many stressed and perplexed
as they see these things unraveling and the world seemingly spinning out of
control.
Money, power, greed, deception, intimidation
and lies seem to be the driving force behind many people today and who does
that sound like; yes, the enemy of our souls. Why do I say this, you might be asking? My answer is in the Word of God in John 10:10,
“The thief does not come except to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they
may have it more abundantly.” This
is a heads up for the believer and un-believer alike because the evil one is
out to destroy both of them. You might
say that he isn’t a respecter of men, no, he hates everyone; just the opposite
of God, who loves everyone, that is the meaning of the last part of this verse.
In the book of 1 Peter 5:8, in God’s
Word, it says this concerning the evil one, “Be
sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring
lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
It seems like believers are
struggling also, wondering what is going on. I even heard yesterday of one that was on the verge
of throwing in the towel and giving up on God and his faith. Sometimes I think we forget who our battle is
with, and instead of fighting against the evil one, the enemy, we start
fighting against God, the author and finisher of our faith. I believe every believer gets discouraged at
times, I know I have been there on more than one occasion, but I praise the
Lord, He always gets me through these trying times, if I make the choice to let
Him. Sometimes we can get our eyes off
the Lord and on ourselves and our circumstances and situations and forget the
many times the Lord has blessed us over the years. Then we start blaming God, and feeling sorry
for ourselves or we start blaming other people for the circumstances we are in
which may be our own fault.
I don’t think anybody has gone through
what Job went through when he was being tested, but through it all, he never sinned
against God and he never gave up, even though he certainly could have. He was very discouraged and with very good
reason, seeing that his wife and his three friends seemed to be his enemies and
losing so much, also not knowing what God was doing at the time. Through it all Job was determined not to give
up on God, and in the end, he was rewarded with twice as much as he had prior
to the tests that he went through.
The Lord never promised us as
believers an easy life; He said we would have tribulation, which consists of trials
and even hardships. But He said He had
overcome and if we stay connected to Him we will overcome also. So instead of thinking about giving up, stir
up the faith you once had and bring back to mind the many blessings you have
received and stop feeling sorry for yourself.
Start thanking and praising the
Lord for who He is and what He is and also for what He has done and what He is
going to do. Then resist the devil and the
temptation to give up and hang in there, strong in your faith, then you will
receive the victory, praise the Lord. Something
to think about! God bless and have a
super day!
