Frustration

Do you get frustrated in your Christian walk at times?  I must admit I feel that way many times.  It seems to me that the enemy is winning so many battles.

When I think about what our society was like about 60 years ago compared to what it is today, it is like we live in a whole different world.  Back then the economy was in pretty good shape and jobs were plentiful, people worked hard, many of them were too proud to accept handouts.  Today it seems like many want a nanny type of existence where the government takes care of them so they don’t have to work.  You would think with all the people that say they are believers, that their lights would so shine that it would light up the darkness, but it seems like the darkness is overshadowing the light because it seems, in many cases, it is being hidden under a basket instead of just the opposite, as the Word says.

It says this in Matthew 5:14-16 talking about salt and light, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

It seems like many people that claim to be believers are not aware of these verses, as well as others on the same topic, or they are not taking these scriptures seriously.  It seems like Roe vs Wade would have been turned over years ago, or never would have become a law in the first place.  Homosexuality would not be the big issue that it is today.  Jails and prisons would not be overflowing with criminals, porn would not be near the problem that it is and so many other things that should not be going on today.

Back in the fifties the movie and TV industries were so different, you could actually watch them without hearing vulgar language or seeing nudity and porn.  It seems to me that when I was a young boy, the first and most violent scenes I saw on the TV, or in the movies, were cowboys and Indians which, even as a kid, I understood were just people acting and when it was over they went and had coffee together or just hung out.  Today the violent scenes are so numerous, so bad and seem so real that many kids believe the scenes they see are reality and when they see so many of them they eventually get so desensitized to killing that they just seem to accept it as normal and many act on what they see when they get older.  Jails and prisons are full of young men and women that acted on what they saw and heard when they were younger and it is all done for the love of money.

When I was a young boy we didn’t even own a TV for a while, we listened to the radio and we did things as a family.  Today it seems like people are running helter-skelter, here, there and everywhere; life seems to be so busy that people are exhausted from all the activities they are involved in besides their jobs.

Back in what many call the old days, churches were run differently also, people went out and brought the people in, today it seems like most of the canvassing witnessing is done by the groups called the Mormons or Jehovah witnesses.  Today it seems like many people want to build mega churches, but are they doing it at the expense of souls that are hungry for truth but have to settle for watered down sermons, where entertainment runs rampant and where money and popularity have become the main goal?  I fear that, that may be the case in some instances.  Praise the Lord for those that are sincere and doing their best to lift Jesus up and to draw all men and women unto Him.

I hope if you are reading this, you have been encouraged to let your light shine so that you will be instrumental, if you haven’t been already, in getting some of the terrible laws overturned.  I know there are many people that have joined this battle and have been on the frontlines for a long time, and I say a hearty, “thank you” to each of them, and please keep up the good work and may God bless you richly.  If we all would get involved in some way, progress would be much quicker, so I hope you will do your part.

May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a great day and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
