Enemy

First let me start off with who God chooses to use; He chooses to use people.  God only needs a few committed believers that are filled with His Spirit.  Believers that are willing to stand up and fight and not be afraid to die for what they believe in; believers full of the Spirit, who choose to stand on the promises of God.  Believers who cloth themselves with the armor of God each day, who put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness with the belt of truth, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and the shield of faith so they can fight off the fiery darts of the wicked one.  Believers that will fight for freedom, honor and truth but will not compromise or conform to the world’s ways and vices.

All believers have an enemy that comes only to kill, steal and destroy as it says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”  It also says in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

With the Lord’s help we don’t have to give in to his cunning devises, the Word says this in James 4:7, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”   Jesus has come so that we may have life and have it more abundantly, but in order to have that abundant life, we need to be born again and filled with His Spirit, that is the only way that you will be able to resist the devil so that he will flee from you.  That is the kind of people God is looking for, those that can worship Him in Spirit and truth because they have the Spirit within them.

God is looking for believers like King David who God called a man after His own heart.  Remember David and how he fought the giant Goliath?  He was just a young boy with mountain moving faith trusting God with his life.   It took genuine faith for David to go up against a giant of a man like Goliath, which started in his early years and developed as time went on while tending sheep as a shepherd boy.

This is what it says about David when he was a young shepherd boy in 1 Samuel 17:32-37, “Then David said to Saul, ‘Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.’ And Saul said to David, ‘You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.’ But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.’ Moreover David said, ‘The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.’ And Saul said to David, ‘Go, and the Lord be with you!’”

Remember as it says in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”  Remember the evil one uses people against us and some of the ones that revile us can be those that are the closest to us sometimes even someone that may sit next to you in church.  David may have been criticized and even laughed at by his brothers, but it wasn’t what people thought about him that mattered, it was his relationship with God that mattered and David knew at a young age that he could trust God so he acted on that belief and was victorious that day.

That is the kind of people God is looking for, and will use, to accomplish His will.  Question: What kind of person are you?  Can God count on you?  When Jesus walked the earth He had a few people, and it was said of them that they turned the world upside down.  What are you doing to affect the outcome of people’s lives?  Are you willing to step out like David and trust God for the outcome?  I hope you are.  Something to think about, God bless and have a great day!!
