Burden Bearer

Have you ever been asked to step out of your comfort zone and do something you didn’t want to do or were scared to do?  Do you ever feel like you are fighting an uphill battle?

Did you ever hear this; the Lord won’t give you more than you can handle?  If you have it is not a biblical statement.  If you could handle every situation and circumstance by yourself, why would you need the Lord?  The Lord knew that we would struggle, sometimes even to the point of wanting to give up.  Some people struggle more than others because they are trying to fight this battle and carry the load all by themselves.  If you are struggling in any area of your life; such as sin, oppression, persecution or maybe over demanding church leaders or just being involved in too many ministries or maybe an illness or whatever, Jesus has some encouraging words for you in Matthew 11:28-30. Jesus said this, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  (KJV Bible)

Sometimes we get so weighed down with certain things that it feels like we are going to be crushed under the weight of it all.  Jesus came to set us free, He wants us to lay our burdens at His feet and take up His yoke and His burden for His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  Jesus also said that He would give you rest.

There are so many believers that are so stressed and tired, not sleeping, carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, so to speak.  This is not the Lord’s plan for your life.  The Lord’s plan is to prosper you and not to harm you but to give you a hope and a future, check out Jeremiah 29:11.  The Lord promises rest, peace, love and joy.  If you are burdened down with stress, worry and tension you lose these things in your life.  Be careful because you can become a slave to all these things.

This is the work of the enemy in your life.  Keeping you in bondage, keeps you from being effective as well as a real threat to his kingdom.  When Jesus was talking about the sheep in John 10:10 He said this, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  If you encounter a hardened thief, his purpose is to take something at any cost, but Jesus came to give His life, love, mercy and forgiveness so that you could live a victorious life.  Jesus doesn’t want to see you in distress and worry because that is robbing you of your peace, joy, strength and rest; no, Jesus wants to set you free.

If it is sin that you are struggling to overcome, repent and confess your sins to Jesus, tell Him you are truly sorry and if you really mean it He will forgive you and set you free.  Jesus said to the Jews in John 8:34-36, “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”  Jesus came to set us free of sin.

In 1 John 1:9 it says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  So don’t let the enemy keep you in bondage to anything.  Trust in the Lord and lay them all at His feet and let Him handle them and set you completely free. Let Him be your 'burden bearer' and let Him restore your peace and joy!  God bless you and have a great day!! And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
