A lot of
believers seem go by their feelings, by how they feel at any given time. I want to let you know that feelings are not
necessarily facts. Feelings come and go
and change all the time. You may wake up
in the morning feeling like it is going to be a great day and it may end up
being one of your worst days. Or you may
wake up feeling like nothing could go wrong and then out of nowhere everything
seems to go wrong.
There
are many people that are scared, worried and anxious, full of crippling fear
and if you ask them what they fear they may say, “I just have a feeling
something bad is going to happen,” and they may be stuck in that mindset for
years and nothing extremely bad happens. Believe me I am not criticizing anyone because
I lived that life when I was young. Fear
is very real, but in many situations, it is not warranted; in fact, it can be
very harmful to your health.
Some
people are called hypochondriacs, because they go to doctors constantly worried
about their health, many times thinking they have the worst thing because they
have heard symptoms that can be in many illnesses or diseases and it scares
them, thinking it must be what they have. Some people seem to have a phobia about snakes,
bats, spiders and mice, plus many other things I could mention. These are all real problems that seem to
paralyze many people. I think everyone
is affected by something that may haunt them, things that they wouldn’t want to
share with anyone else.
It is
true, feelings are not something we can put our trust in. What we could do is seek truth. What is truth? Jesus said in John 14: 6, “I am the way,
the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” Many would take offense to this statement and
have in the past, this is an exclusive statement, but it is truth.
Maybe
the most popular verse in the Bible on fear and anxiety is Philippians 4:6-7, “Be
anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.”
I think
we need to meditate on what is said in verse 8 also getting our mind on
truth that we can count on instead of what the enemy would use to distract us
and make us fearful and worried and anxious.
James
4:7, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Please
read this in Philippians 4: 8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things.”
These are
the things we would be better off meditating on, and not the things that make
us fearful and anxious. Remember this,
nothing will happen to any born-again believer unless the Lord allows it to
happen, and if He allows it to happen it will be for our own good. The word of God says in Romans 8:28, “And
we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those
who are the called according to His purpose.”
So, we
can have confidence that whatever happens to us, if we are truly believers, it
is in God’s hands and we can trust Him to take care of it. I pray that this has been a help, a blessing and
an encouragement. May the Lord bless you
and yours with His perfect peace, joy, health and happiness. May you all have a
super day and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
