Read Luke 9:49-50, “And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.”
The disciples learned a valuable lesson that day and we need
to learn this lesson also. Just because
someone may not belong to our particular denomination or our congregation
doesn’t mean that we should reject them altogether, even if they hold to a different
view than we do. We don’t have to agree
with them, but if they are for the Lord they are not against Him. It is so easy to judge people and reject and
in some cases even condemn people, but we need to leave the judging to the Lord
and remember they are His servants. The
Lord is the only one that knows the thoughts and intents of the heart. Many times when we judge we are so wrong in
our thinking plus many times our motives are not what they should be and when
we judge we are condemning ourselves.
Read Romans 2:1-16, “Therefore
thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou
judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same
things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against
them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them
which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment
of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and
longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath
against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; who will
render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance
in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: but unto
them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness,
indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that
doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; but glory, honour, and
peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the
Gentile: for there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have
sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in
the law shall be judged by the law; (for not the hearers of the law are just
before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles,
which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these,
having not the law, are a law unto themselves: which shew the work of the law
written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their
thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when
God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”
Judging others is serious business and can bring dire
consequences, so unless our motives are right and we have the facts right we
would be far better off leaving the judgement to God.
Now read Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge
not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be
judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And
why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not
the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me
pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt
thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”
This is something I have been guilty of many times and have
had to repent and ask the Lord to forgive me more times than I want to think
about. Maybe you have found that you too
are guilty of this also and you need to confess and ask for forgiveness from
the Lord and those that you have judged, if you can. Only you know if you are guilty or not. I don’t know if there is anyone that hasn’t
been in this situation at some point in their life. Well I think you got the point and I have
given you something to think about! I
hope you have a super day and that the good Lord blesses you and yours!!
