Unbelievers

If you are truly born-again, having a personal relationship with the Lord and you are thinking about getting married to a non-believer, Paul has a warning for you, don’t.  Please read the first part of 2 Corinthians 6:14, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.”  Why would Paul say such a thing to these believers?  Paul knew, that in most cases, there would be a lot of problems, and sometimes even violent anger and rage so he was warning them not to bring these things on themselves.  I realize that some people figure that they will win their spouse over after they are married, and this does happen at times, but Paul knew what was best and that would be to avoid the hassles that would take place in many of these marriages.

Jesus said in this world you will have tribulation.  Jesus was saying to expect problems and trials and Paul said if you live a godly life you will be persecuted.  From Paul’s perspective, I think he was lovingly trying to keep these believers from future hurt and pain, which they would be bringing on themselves.  Paul went on to say this about this subject in the following verses 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, “For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? What harmony does Messiah have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement does God’s Temple have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God—just as God said, ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore, come out from among them, and be separate, says Adonai. Touch no unclean thing. Then I will take you in. I will be a father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters says Adonai-Tzva’ot.’”

Sometimes non-believers can be very hostile to believers, as any true believer knows.  Paul said at one time that he was the worst of sinners and he knew what a non-believer was capable of because he had a very checkered past.  Now Paul was a converted Jewish believer who loved his Lord and, also the people he was talking to and treated them like his own children who he didn’t want to be blind sighted or taken advantage of, which every pastor should feel the same about!!  This warning still holds true for today.  Some believers have a real struggle with this today also.  I believe that hearts are not any different today than they were in Paul’s day, because there is no one who hasn’t been born in sin and shaped in iniquity, like David said about himself.  We have all sinned and fell short of the glory of God!!  Only the Lord can cleanse the heart of a person and wash their sins away because He laid down His life and shed His blood for that very purpose, praise His holy name!!

If you are a non-believer and would like to be set free of sins and enjoy the benefits of a child of God, I believe you need not put it off any longer.  If you truly want to repent and confess and turn from your sins and turn to God, you can be forgiven, cleansed, washed and purified.  Please read 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Once that happens, then you will never be the same, and in time many things will change and you will be a new creation in Christ!!  The Word of God says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

If you are a believer, thinking about marrying a non-believer, please pray about what you have read here and don’t rush into anything and please seek the Lord for your answer.  The Word of God says unless the Lord build the house ye labor in vain that build it and I believe that means a marriage, a ministry, a relationship, or whatever way you minister before the Lord!!  And I believe it takes three to have a happy fulfilled, blessed marriage.  I think I can vouch for that, seeing I was married twice without the Lord in the marriages and this time with the Lord.  The first two because of me and my stupidity were horrible and this one, with the Lord, is like night and day compared to the other two because the Lord has made such a difference in our lives and as far as I am concerned I have the best wife in the world for me.  And believe it or not, she says that I am the best for her also, I know that is hard to believe but that is the truth.

Enough said, may you and yours have a super, super day and may the good Lord bless you all with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness!!  I hope this is a help and a blessing to each person who reads it.
