When someone hurts you by something that they said, that
hurt can last a very long time, sometimes for many years. Sometimes it can seem to cripple the person
that it was said to, especially if it was said many times. It is as though words can cut deep, all the
way to the soul of a person.
Think of this, God’s Word is like a double-edged sword, it
cuts to the bone and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of
the heart!! When things are said that
cut deep, this is where anxiety, anger, bitterness and revenge come from, and
remember the heart is deceitfully wicked and who can know it except the spirit
that lives in the person. Rage and anger and jealousy and anxiety come from the
heart. And remember this, out of the
abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Whatever dwells in the heart will basically control
the person’s speech.
I will liken it to a tree, it is either a good tree and bears
good fruit or it is a bad tree and bears bad fruit. The same thing seems to
reflect, or could be said, about the heart. A merry heart is good medicine, but a broken or
crushed spirit dries up the bones. Why
are people so anxious, it may be because they have no real joy in their lives. Without lasting joy and being anxious all the
time can bring on sickness, plus the person will lose their strength.
Let me ask you this question, where does real joy come from?
It comes from the Lord. God’s Word says this, that the joy of the Lord
is your strength. On the other hand, sin
will destroy the joy in our life also. David
prayed a prayer that went like this when he was confronted by Nathan the
prophet with the sin he had committed with Bathsheba; please read some of what
he said from the Word of God yourself, it is found in Psalms 51:10-17, “Create
in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast
me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore
to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I
will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my
tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my
mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I
would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are
a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not
despise.”
I have prayed this many times; ‘create in me a clean heart,
oh God and renew a right spirit within me and take not your presence or your
Spirit from me and restore to me the joy of your salvation.’ When we sin, it separates us from our God and
steals our joy and makes us miserable if we are truly born again because we
know what the wages of our sin cost our
Savior. Sin can cause
all these negative results I have listed here also.
Would you like a clean and pliable heart and not a hard
heart? Paul talked about godly sorrow
that brings forth repentance unto salvation in 2 Corinthians 7:10, “For
godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but
the sorrow of the world produces death.”
If you have been sinned against, or hurt in some other way
by someone, and you need to be set free of the thought of revenge or hatred or
jealousy or anxiety and you have lost all joy and contentment, then you may
have to do what you just read in 2 Corinthians. Think about what it says and if the conviction
of the Holy Spirit is present in your life and you feel that godly sorrow welling
up in your soul, then act on it and truly repent by rejecting your sins and
turning from them to the Lord and ask Him into your heart and life and to be
your Lord and Savior and forgive you. He
is the healer and sustainer and the deliverer, the one that can deliver you
from whatever is affecting you and set you completely free, praise the Lord!! It comes down to this, if you want to be set
free of all the things I mentioned earlier in this Tidbit, then you will have
to act on what you read and if you are truly sincere I believe you will be set
free, praise the Lord!!
I hope you have a super day and the good Lord blesses you
and yours with His perfect peace, love and joy and health and happiness!! I also pray that this was a blessing and a
help to all who read it!!
