The Word

I am here to try to encourage every believer to hide the Word of God in his or her heart.  If you claim to be a believer and you are not studying, reading and digesting the Word of God then how will you ever resist sin and how will you ever be victorious in the faith?  And think of this, how will you not conform to the world and it’s practices?  If you are not studying and listening to God’s Word, how will you ever have the faith you need to walk a life of holiness?  Also if you are not memorizing the scriptures, how will you be able to encourage anyone else in the faith or witness to others that are not in the faith if you don’t have the Word of God with you?

I am going to put in a few verses here to encourage you; and I want to say this, if you have a problem reading the Word of God listen to it on CD’s or the internet or some other source, but do not neglect the Word of God it is so important.  If you are having a problem with taking time out to read or listen to the Word of God ask the Lord to help you to have a real hunger and thirst for it.  If you are sincere I am sure He will help you!!

Now read what Psalms 119:9-16 says, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.”

Read Hebrews 11:5-6, “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Now read this in 2 Timothy 4:15-19, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

Now read Romans 10:16-17, “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Now, please read Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Without reading or studying the Word of God how will you ever resist sin or how will you ever resist the evil one?  Jesus was the Word and He also knew the Word and He used it when the evil one tried to convince Him to sin.  It will help us also if we hide it in our hearts, as the Psalmist said.  Enough said I have given you something to think about!!  I hope this Tidbit has been a blessing and a help to you.  Have a blessed day and may the good Lord bless you and yours and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
