Who Touched Me

There is a story in God’s Word that speaks about a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years and could not be cured.  Read this in Mark 5:25-34, “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”

Everyone who came to Jesus when He walked the earth never went away disappointed, except those that rejected Him and this lady was no different.  I have said this in other Tidbits but I think it is still a good reminder, “Reach up as high as you can and God will reach down the rest of the way;” this is on a small plaque that I have home.  Sometimes as believers we don’t want to do our part but we want God to do His part.  The lady in the story did all she could, you might say she went the extra mile.  When you get desperate you do things that you normally wouldn’t do.  So many times people want the Lord to deliver them, heal them, or bless them financially or something else but they are not willing to do their part.  This lady wanted to be healed and the crowd was not going to stop her from getting to Jesus even if she had to break through the crowd behind Him.  She was going to do whatever it took just to touch even the hem of His garment, if that is what it would take, she would not be detoured no matter what it cost and she did just that and she was healed, praise the Lord.

There are many today that feel just like this lady, they have determined to touch the Lord no matter the cost to receive His blessings and love and healing and whatever their needs may be.  They spend time with him daily, fellowshipping, praising and praying, and ministering to others and even worshiping by giving of their finances and time and resources to further His kingdom!!  Don’t get me wrong, they do not do these things just to receive but they do these things because they love the Lord and they know that it pleases Him and that is their main objective, they want to give the Lord their first fruits.

But there are so many others that seem to want to give the Lord their leftovers, they spend hours on other things that they want to do and their finances on things that they don’t even need many times, but when it comes to the Lord they seem to have very little time for Him.  But when they get into something that they can’t handle themselves, or something happens that really shakes them then they’re seeking and expecting the Lord to help them, and when the Lord doesn’t jump to attention and meet their needs right away they get angry and upset and wonder where the Lord is.  Some have wandered from the truth and some from the faith completely which is a real tragedy because the Lord still loves them but they have listened to the lies of the enemy.  This seems to have happened to some of the atheists that you may hear from.  In Psalms 14:1 and Psalms 53:2 it says this, “a fool says in His heart that there is no God.”  We can’t always understand what He does but he is God and we are not and He knows what He is doing and many times we don’t.

If this verse is true, “Now we know that all things work together for good to those who love God who are called according to his purpose,” in Romans 8:28, then we can and must trust God in every circumstance or situation we find ourselves in.  This lady was not the only one that wanted to be healed or set free there were many and they knew if they could only touch Jesus or even His garment it would happen.  Read Mark 6:53-56, “And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, and ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.”

I am typing this to encourage you.  If you need something from the Lord, don’t give up, be encouraged and keep pressing into the Lord until He answers your prayers, keep reaching and step out in faith.  Some time when you least expect it He may shock you like He did when He healed my asthma miraculously years ago, praise the Lord!  So hang in there, today may be your day!!  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you all have a super day!!  PS don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
