Seeking the Lord

How much do we trust in the Lord and how strong is our faith?  Only we can answer that question.  I want to encourage you to seek the Lord with all your heart and also seek the wisdom of the Lord.

Read what it says in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

This was when the Israelites would come out of Babylon where they were captives because of their sins against the Lord!!  Just like them we were, and may still be, captive to sin; the good news is, if the Son sets you free you are free indeed, praise the Lord!!  We also need to seek Him with all our hearts like I said.

Now read Proverbs 8:17 that speaks about wisdom, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”

We so need to be doing all these things so that we won’t be deceived.  We can receive wisdom by spending time in the Word of God and listening to sermons that line up with the Word.  God’s Word says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God!!  The more you hear the Word, the more faith you should have and the freer you should become.  But you must be careful of the wolves in sheep’s clothing that only teach what people’s itching ears want to hear so as to deceive, be careful that you do not fall into deception.

It is also very important that you spend time in prayer.  I have heard it said that prayer is the engine of the church, and I believe it.  How can anything be accomplished in the church if there is no prayer?  You can have all your skits and programs, self-help books and videos and all the rest, but without prayer very little will be accomplished.  Did Jesus say my house would be a house of teaching, or preaching, or worship or programs?  No, He said my house shall be called a house of prayer!!!  If Jesus said it then it must have been very important.

These words are recorded once in the Old Testament and twice in the New Testament.  You can find these words in Isaiah 56:7 and also Matthew 21:13 and in Luke 19:46, “Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.”

Jesus had a righteous anger over what was being done in the Temple, I wonder how He feels about many of our congregations today.  What we need is faith like Daniel and his three friends had and Elijah and Elisha and Abraham and Peter and Paul and the other disciples had and those in the 11th chapter of Hebrews and many that lived since then all down through the ages.  Jesus said something about faith that should shake us all, if we are truly born-again.

He said this in Luke 18:8, “I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”

Things are going to get very hard before the Lord comes and many will fall away from the faith, so this is a warning to you and me to press into the Lord and seek Him while He may be found.  Read the Word and hide it in our hearts because someday you may not have a Bible to look at and you may be the only Bible that anyone will see or hear.  Also praying is so critical, not only today but every day.

I have given you something to think about, I hope you will and then put these things into practice if you are not in the habit of doing these things.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you all have a super day!!  Don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
