I think every true believer knows
that at birth we receive a sin nature that resides in each person that has ever
existed, except Jesus. We sin because of
that sin nature and we seem to be powerless to resist sin. We not only sin, but we sin on a daily basis
many times, and think nothing of it in most cases because it comes so natural
to us.
Now let me throw this in, we have
no excuse, even though we have a bent towards sin we also have a conscience
that tells us what we are doing is wrong, but we short circuit that by our own evil
desire to sin. Even though we know in
many cases that wrong behavior brings punishment, and we should avoid it, we
rebel and do it anyway even trying to involve others in the wrong doing that we
are involved with. And remember anything
we do that breaks one of God’s commandments is sin regardless of what we try to
label it. Another thing I want to inject
here is that we have no excuse for the sins we commit, so don’t waste your time
trying to think of one. Calling sin a mistake, or anything else, will never cut
it, so call it what God calls it, sin.
In the book of Romans Paul said
this about God’s anger at sin in chapter 1 verses 18-23, “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people
who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God
because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created,
people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can
clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So
they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give
him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a
result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead
became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God,
they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and
reptiles.”
In God’s sight there is no one in
right standing with Him, everyone is guilty of sin. Will anyone have an excuse for not believing
in God at the White Throne Judgment? No,
none whatsoever! Don’t be fooled and
miss out on what God has in store for you, don’t live in unbelief.
Because of their unbelief God
gave them up to their own desires that are spoken of in Romans 1:24-32, “So God abandoned them to do whatever
shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading
things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So
they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator
himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them
to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to
have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of
having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men
did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered
within themselves the penalty they deserved.
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to
their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their
lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder,
quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers,
haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning,
and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their
promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires
that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse
yet, they encourage others to do them, too.”
God will allow you to reject Him because
He gave us all a free will so we can choose our own destiny. It is not God’s will that we make that choice
because He is not willing that any be lost but that everyone will repent and
believe in Him; but He will never force us to choose Him against our wills. In fact we need to go beyond that, we need to
believe that Jesus Christ was God’s only begotten Son and that He was
crucified, died and was buried, and rose again, coming back to life on the
third day and is now the Savior for all who believe in Him. Jesus’ blood was shed for the sins of mankind;
praise His name, because no other sacrifice would do. In the Word there were many animals sacrificed
for sin, but their blood was just a covering, waiting for the perfect sacrifice
which was Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb of God whose blood did more than
cover sins it washed and purified sins, removing all traces of it.
It says this about sin in Isaiah 1:18,
“‘Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the
Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as
snow. Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.’”
David said this about God and
what He does with sin if we fear Him, in Psalms 103:8-14:
“The Lord is compassionate and merciful,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing
love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we
deserve.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear
him
is as great as the height of the heavens
above the earth.
He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear
him.
For he knows how weak we are;
he remembers we are only dust.”
God knew that we could never
atone for our own sins; so He made a way for everyone to get right with Him and
He accomplished it through Jesus Christ, His Son. So like I said, no one has an excuse for
rejecting Him in unbelief, and my prayer for you is that you won’t reject Him. Repent of your sins, asking the Lord to
forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness and to be your Lord and
Savior. If you are sincere I believe it
will happen. Then find a church where the Preacher preaches the truth in God’s
Word. Start studying the Word yourself asking
God’s Holy Spirit to teach you the scriptures and to bring them back to you
when you need them and start growing in your faith. Have a great day. May God bless you!!
