Have you ever asked yourself this question; who is Jesus and what is your true motive for following and seeking Him? People follow Jesus for many different reasons, but what is your reason? Do you seek after Him for healing or for wisdom, knowledge or popularity, or are you just trying to impress your friends? Do you follow Him because He has really made a difference in your life or maybe you follow Him because you fear Him and are afraid not to? Do you follow Him for who He is or for what you hear He has done?
These are things to think about very seriously, why do you follow and serve Him? I think of Judas who was in charge of the money pouch and how he betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, was he just seeking and following Jesus for wealth and popularity, after all he was one of the twelve disciples, what was his real motive? Judas walked with Jesus three to three and a half years, hearing His teaching and seeing all the miracles Jesus did and even performing some himself, makes you wonder why he sold Jesus out.
Think about this, if you lived in a different country and were subject to heavy persecution like many believers are today, would you still follow the Lord or would you walk away and forsake Him also? Before you answer that question think about this, have you ever been persecuted for your faith? There are Christians that live with that possibility every day and it costs many their lives.
Are you following the Lord because you have an intimate relationship with Him? Have you come to the realization that your life was spiraling out of control, becoming desperate for a change, sickened by the way your life was unraveling and sick and tired of your sins, wanting to be delivered from them? Have you experienced God’s deliverance and His perfect peace, love and joy, and have you been set free of your sins?
I have asked many questions but none of them are without importance and all are worthy of meditation and serious thought on your part. I don’t want anyone to miss out on Heaven because they thought they were born-again but they weren’t, and I am not trying to scare anyone, I just want you to be sure of your salvation. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
Has your life changed, have you experienced the conviction of the Holy Spirit or have you just been emotionally stirred? Only you can really answer that question. That is another question to take to heart. The Word says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Have things been changing in your life for the better or are you basically the same? Only you can answer these questions. Some things to think about and act on and I hope you will. God bless and have a great day!!
