Great Faith

Let me start out by saying that we all have been given a measure of faith, if we are believers.  So, what are some ways we receive more faith?  One of the ways is to be listening to the Word of God.  Read what God’s Word says in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Hearing the Word of God is extremely important for building one’s faith, then you need to go further, it would be good to memorize scripture also.  Read Psalms 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”   Now let’s go a little further, you need to put into practice what you hear and read and memorize.

Now read Jacob (James) 1:19-25, “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

There is another step you should put into practice also and that is prayer. Keeping a diary of all the times the Lord answers your prayers so that you don’t forget is a very good idea also. This practice should help build your faith.  Now read Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Like I said we all have a measure of faith, if we are true believers, so let’s build on the faith that we have.  Read Matthew 17:19-20, “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could we not cast it out?’ So Jesus said to them, ‘Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’”

Think of this, a mustard seed is a very small seed; I think it is the smallest seed there is, so if you are struggling with unbelief ask the Lord to strengthen your faith and help it to blossom.  How would we define what faith is, read Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

My best explanation of this is this; let’s say you are reading God’s Word and you come across His promises, you grasp onto the promises and believe on them as much as you can, knowing that God cannot lie, even if they all haven’t been revealed yet in your life.  Without wavering you have faith that every one of these promises are true.  Hebrews 11 is the great faith chapter in the Word of God.  In verse 32-40 it talks of how these people were treated and how the world was not worthy of them.  They hoped, or had faith, for a better resurrection even though they hadn’t experienced it yet!!  They believed that they would receive it and stood on the promise, even when they hadn’t received it at the time!!  So, strive for perfection and a strong faith that can move mountains.  Listen, study, memorize and pray and put the things you hear into practice, feed your faith so it may be the kind of faith that can move mountains.

May the good Lord bless you and may you all have a super, super day!!  Don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
