It Is Amazing

Can you think of the most amazing thing that you have ever seen?  It may be a beautiful sunset or maybe a beautiful landscape.  It may be a child that has just been born or a flock of bald eagles in flight on a beautiful afternoon.  There are many things that people relate to as amazing, but none would compare to what Moses, Isaiah, Peter, James and John and others saw, and that was a peek at the Lord’s glory.  Any true born-again believer would love to see the glory of the Lord.

Read what Moses saw in Exodus 33:17-23, “So the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.’ And he said, ‘Please, show me Your glory.’ Then He said, ‘I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.’ But He said, ‘You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.’ And the Lord said, ‘Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.’”

It is hard to imagine that God would show a man His glory, it is also hard to imagine what Moses felt like, can you imagine how excited Moses must have been, probably overwhelmed, maybe ecstatic over such a sight.

Think about Isaiah when he said this in Isaiah 6:1-4, “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!’ And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.”

What a sight, what an experience it must have been, so breathtakingly awesome because only the Lord is truly awesome although I have heard that word used for so many other things!!  When He got a glimpse of the Lord he knew he was undone, a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips.  If we had that experience I am sure we would all relate to what Isaiah said.

Now let’s look at Peter, James and John and what they experienced in Matthew 17:1-9, “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!’ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, ‘Arise, and do not be afraid.’ When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, ‘Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.’”

I am sure that was an experience that they never forgot.  Peter was so overwhelmed he didn’t even know what he was saying.  And when they heard the voice of God the disciples hit the ground terrified.  It is sad to say but if the church had more of this kind of fear, things would look much different than they do today.  I think many would realize how sinful they really are and stop patting themselves on the back, thinking about how good they are!!  Let’s all praise the good Lord for His grace and mercy shown to us and the reconciliation that Jesus accomplished when He allowed Himself to be crucified and to shed His blood for the sins of all mankind, praise be to God!!

Enough said I hope this has been an encouragement and a help to you.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!  And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord, for He is worthy!!
