Blind

I would like to talk about being blind today. There is a physical blindness and also a spiritual blindness. Please read what God’s Word says about the two men that where physically blind in Matthew 20:29-33, “And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” These two men realized that they had a need and knew that if Jesus wanted to He would heal them so they cried out to Him and because of His compassion and their faith in Him they were healed.”

Now let’s talk about spiritual blindness.  Jesus said this to the Pharisees in Matthew 23:16-21, “Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.”  These people were blinded spiritually because of their misguided thinking and their stubborn unbelief and the hardness of their hearts.  Instead of crying out to Jesus for help they were jealous of Jesus to their own detriment.

Let’s look at another scripture that relates to why non-believers are blinded.  Please read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6, “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

The enemy of our souls blinds unbeliever’s eyes so that they will not receive the word of truth.  Jesus can open every eye and every ear and set every captive free that wants to be, but you have a choice to make.  Do you want to be set free?  Only you can answer that question.

Last of all please read Matthew 13:19, “When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.”

The enemy, or the evil one, has a lot to do with spiritual warfare, trying to keep you blinded and ignorant of the truths in God’s Word.  But, the Lord is far greater than our enemy and His desire is that all will come to repentance, turn from their wicked ways and put their trust in Him.  So, if you have loved ones that have not received the Lord as their personal Savior, ask the Lord to open their eyes and ears and remove the veil from their minds, for He is the one that not only wants to and can but He is also willing, praise the Lord!!

I have given you something to think about and I pray that this Tidbit will be an encouragement and help to all who read it.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you all have a super day and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
