A Threefold Cord

A threefold cord is not easily broken, read Ecclesiastes 4:12.  I am going to relate this to a husband and wife.  Let’s think of them as the twofold cord, how many times have you heard of broken marriages? There have been far too many broken marriages, that many times end in separation or divorce.  But now take the wife and the husband and the Lord and let’s say they represent the threefold cord, they will not be easily broken because the Lord helps to keep them together as long as the two of them are committed to each other and to the Lord and His Word. I am not saying that these marriages are never broken because many have been but I believe if you are committed to each other and have a personal relationship with the Lord your chances are far greater than without the Lord!!    Think about the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit you might say that they are threefold cords that can never be broken.  When you are born-again you know that the Father created you, the Son died for you and the Holy Spirit indwells you.

God’s Word says this in Psalms 127:1, “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Regardless of what you may do, or how successful you are, or how much money you have, you will never feel complete without the Lord in your life.  Unless the Lord is a part of it, it will never be the best that it can be; whether it be a business, a relationship, or a ministry regardless of what it may be, without the Lord being a part of it, it will never be the best it can be, like I said.  The Lord makes the difference in all areas of life.

It is futility living without God.  King Solomon the wisest man that ever lived concluded in his book of Ecclesiastes with these words in chapter 12 verses 13-14, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

I hate to say this but I lived a horrible life before I truly got committed to the Lord about 36 years ago; drugs and alcohol were very much a part of my life for many years and I know what it is like to be married and live life like it was a nightmare and being divorced.  But now I’ve been married for 39 years in the Lord and what a difference the Lord has made in this marriage; I love my wife more now than I did when we first got married and I am actually happy the majority of the time and I have never felt that I was living a nightmare since we got together, praise the Lord!!  If the Lord did that for us He can and will do it for anyone else that is committed to Him and each other and to His Word, to read and study it and to put it into practice, and to pray and give thanks and praise.  If you are struggling in your marriage or any other part of your life try the good Lord He can make all the difference.

I have given you something to think about.  May your day be blessed and may you and your family put the Lord first in all that you do.  May the good Lord bless you all with His peace, love and joy and don’t forget to thank and praise Him he is worthy!!
