If We Believe

How should a true believer in the Lord act after their conversion?  If a person truly believes, and truly repents by turning from their wicked ways, it should make a drastic difference in that person’s life.  In fact, the word of God says it this way in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

If anyone truly believes to the point of conversion, being a born-again, blood bought believer, they in time will live a far different lifestyle than they did before their conversion.  Some things may not change instantly but, in time, people will notice the difference in your life, and they may inquire as to why the change in your lifestyle and what changed in your life.  Let’s face it, if you were somewhat of an alcoholic or a drug addict or a combination of the two, plus I could throw in many other bad habits here also, before your conversion there may be an instant change in some of these bad habits but it may take more time for your deliverance from some of these habits.  But I can assure you, if you do your part and sincerely want to get rid of the things that had you bound in your old life, it will happen.

Let me put it this way, if you went to an altar in your community (church) and said a prayer and nothing changed in your life then there could not have been a conversion, because if it was genuine something would have had to have changed in your life, there is not a doubt about that.  If you have done this at some point in your life and you are basically the same person, practicing and living in sin with basically very little change, you may want to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.  Being born-again takes more than just mouthing some words; I believe it will take the conviction through the Holy Spirit plus true repentance and a strong desire to be free of sin and a strong desire to honor God in your life. What I am saying is you will be set free of practicing sin with a desire towards seeking God and seeking forgiveness, if you do sin.

It may be of help if you please read 2 Corinthians 7:10-11, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. (Now read what this kind of sorrow and repentance produced in these Corinthians in verse 11) “For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”  Now think of this, Godly sorrow and heart felt repentance makes a big difference in anyone’s, life and it produces great results, but worldly sorrow produces nothing but death!!

I think I’ve said enough, I hope this has been an encouragement and a help to every reader and may the good Lord bless you and yours and may all of you have a super, super day!!  In case you haven’t done it yet today, don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord, for He is worthy!!
