I thought I would talk a little about Noah today! This was
the circumstance and situation in their day read Genesis 6:1-7, “And it came to pass, when men began to
multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the
sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them
wives of all which they chose. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always
strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred
and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare
children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And
God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it
repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his
heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face
of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the
air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”
I think God’s purpose was always the same as it is for us
today, to prosper them and not harm them but to give them a hope and a future
because God is love and there is no one that was ever born that He didn’t love!
This situation sounds a little like what
is going on in our world today except thankfully there are many more believers
today than there was then. At that time He
could only find one person that loved Him and was faithful and that man was
Noah!! It says this in Genesis 6:8, “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the
Lord.” This doesn’t mean that Noah was perfect, the Word
of God says that all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God, and that
there is none righteous, no not one. It
means that he followed God with his whole heart, in a very sinful generation. When
it says that God repented it doesn’t mean that He made a mistake, He never
makes a mistake, it means He was sorry that the people chose sin and death
instead of having a relationship with Him.
Think about this, God could have destroyed them very quickly
if He wanted to but because of His mercy and grace He gave them 120 years to
think about what they would choose to do; that’s how long it took Noah to build
the Ark and I think he must have preached in that period of time to the people
that were wondering what he was up to. But
apparently none of them repented and turned to God and God’s judgement fell upon
them and they were all destroyed. God
hates sin; He knows that it only devastates people’s lives, it never builds up,
it tears down and destroys relationships and marriages and it brings on
sicknesses and diseases and damages people’s minds and puts people in bondage. God doesn’t want these things to take place in
people’s lives, He wants to see people set free of sin and its devastating
consequences. The sad thing is that
there are so many people today that still reject God and go their own way and do
their own thing, not believing that there are consequences for their sins.
Take a lesson from Sodom and Gomorrah, God’s judgement fell
on them also, not because God didn’t love the people but because of their
sinful lifestyles, their rebellion and the sinful choices that they made. Lot, his wife and two daughters were the only
ones that escaped that judgment and that was only because of Abraham. Lot’s wife got out of the city but she turned
back when she was told not to and she became a pillar of salt. God is a loving, kind and merciful God, full
of grace and truth, but He is also a just and a fair God but there are always
consequences for sin like I said earlier.
Read what it says in 2 Peter 3:1-7, “This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I
stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: that ye may be mindful of the
words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of
us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first, that there shall
come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying,
Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all
things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they
willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and
the earth standing out of the water and in the water: whereby the world that
then was, being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and the earth,
which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against
the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
This passage in 2 Peter speaks of when God flooded the earth
also bringing judgement on the people that I talked about earlier in this Tidbit.
In the footnotes of my Bible it says
this (In Noah’s day the earth was judged by water, at the second coming it will
be judged by fire) Read what verse 7 says again, “But the heavens and the earth
which are now by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against
this day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men.”
Now think of this, God provided Noah and his family a place
of salvation using the Ark. God provided
Lot and his daughters a place of salvation in the city of Zoar, a place of
refuge. God has also provided a place of
refuge so that you will not come under His wrath or severe judgement and that
is found in His Son Jesus Christ. If you
will repent and turn away from your sins and ask Jesus to be your Lord and
Savior, in all sincerity, I think you will find your refuge in Him!! Read John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved.”
The last verse, 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Enough said, I think you got the point I was making! May the good Lord bless you and yours and may
you have a super day and don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
