Here is good news for the born-again believer, read 1 Thessalonians
5:1-11, “But concerning the times and the
seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the
night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes
upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But
you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a
thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night
nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and
be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are
drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the
breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God
did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus
Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together
with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also
are doing.” The Lord will return swiftly at a time when most people won’t be
expecting Him and only those that are prepared and ready will go with Him.
Knowing these things we need to be preparing ourselves for
the Lord’s second coming!! No one knows
the day or the hour that the Lord will return, although some people may claim
that they know. Don’t be misled by
anyone, it will be a time when we least expect it, even true believers may be
surprised when the Lord returns. Jesus
said that He didn’t even know when it would be, that only His Father knew; read
what Jesus said in Mark 13:32-37, “But of
that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time
is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave
authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper
to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is
coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the
morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I
say to all: Watch!”
Think about what Jesus said in these three parables, it is
important that we take them very seriously; the parable of the ten virgins, the
parable of the talents and the parable of the sheep and goats because Jesus is
teaching about this subject in all three accounts. You can find them in Matthew
25:1-13, Matthew 25:14-30 and Matthew 25:31-46, if you would like to read them. In the first account Jesus is teaching that
everyone in responsible for their own spiritual condition. In the second account we are responsible for what
God has entrusted to us and to use them well. And, in the third account it stresses the importance
of serving others in need.
Question: are you preparing yourself for the Lord’s second
coming? If you will take the time to
read these three parables, they will teach you what you must do to be prepared;
I hope you will take the time and read them. I have given you, and myself, something to
think about, so let’s all get ready and stay ready!! I hope this has been an encouragement to all
who read it. May God bless you and yours
and may you each have a super day!! PS
don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
