Hell Is a Place

Hell is a real place that many people don’t want to talk or hear about.  It is something that the inspirational speakers don’t want to talk about because it would be far too negative.  I said this before in other Tidbits, it is not always what you want to hear that is important but it is what you need to hear that is very important.

I have a tendency to collect Bibles, at times, and one of them I picked up was a Billy Graham Training Center Bible which is a New King James version Bible.  I want to share what it says in the footnotes on this subject, I think it says it far better than I could!! “All people have been created by God with an eternal soul.  After our lives are spent here on this earth, our souls will exist eternally in one of two places: heaven or hell.  In English-language Bibles, there are three Greek words translated as “hell.”  The word tartaros is found only once in the Bible.  It is a place of confinement for the rebellious angels until the time of their judgment. (2 Peter 2:4).  The word hades is found ten times in the New Testament (Matthew 11:23; 16:18; Luke 10:15; 16:23; Acts 2:27, 31; Revelation 1:18; 6:8; 20:13, 14). It is a place of torment for those who die without accepting Christ. They will also stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelations 20:11-15). The word Gehenna is translated “hell” twelve times (Matthew 5:22, 29, 30; 10:28; 18:9; Mark 9:43, 45, 47; Luke 12:5; James 3:6).  It refers to the valley of Hinnom, a place outside Jerusalem where children were once sacrificed to the God Molech (2 Chronicles 33:1-6).  In later days, it was a place residents threw rubbish--including dead bodies of animals and criminals.  This “city dump” was a place of decomposition and continuous fire (Mark 9:44).  Note that “Purgatory,” the imagined place of remedial suffering, has no scriptural foundation. There will be no appeal after the passing of the sentence at the Great White Throne Judgment.  All who have rejected Christ will be present.”

I have given you some homework to do about this subject; it would be a good thing to do if you have doubts or if you just want to know more on this subject.  There is plenty here for everyone to feast on and think about.  If you are a non-believer this should be of great interest because whether you like it or not, you will stand before the Lord someday also along with everyone else and give an account.  What did you do with Jesus, the only begotten Son of God?  Did you blaspheme Him and use His name for a cuss word even teaching other people to do the same by your careless words or did you repent, turn from your sins, asking the Lord to forgive you for your sins and ask Him to be the Lord of your life?  My prayer is that you will stand before the Lord someday, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, which is Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord!!  The choice is yours; please don’t stand before the Lord un-redeemed.  Something to think about, have a nice day and don’t forget the Lord loves you!
