In this day and age things are very unstable and you may have a tendency to doubt whether God will still provide for us, His people. God is not a God who deserts His people, He loves us and He cares for us. He never leaves us or forsakes us; we are the ones who move away from Him. Remember we have been adopted into God’s family, if we are believers. We have become God’s responsibility and we cannot be in any better hands.
The Word says, “If God is for us who can be against us.” It also says, “No weapon formed against us shall prosper.” With all that is happening in our country and our Government things can seem very scary. When you lose your job and even your home you may start to doubt the Lord, but that is when your faith has to sustain you. That is why the Word says, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1 NIV Bible.
Over the years many people have been unfaithful to the Lord but He has never been unfaithful to them. God has had to chastise His people, or punish them, and He has been faithful to do that when needed but only for their good.
The Word says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 That is talking about our provisions, praise God! It doesn’t say anything about what is going on around us; no we just need to seek His kingdom first.
Now let’s think about Elijah in the Old Testament for a moment! In 1st Kings 17:1–6 it says, “Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, ‘As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.’ Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: ‘Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.’ So he did what the LORD had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.” God will provide for his people even if He has to use a bird, whatever it takes He will do. In the book of Psalms it says “Once I was young and now I am old I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging bread.”
There are many examples of God providing for His children in the Word, let me share another story with you from 1 Kings 17:8-16. There was a widow from Zarephath who was about to cook her last meal for her and her son. Elijah was commanded to go there at once since the brook dried up because of the lack of rain. When Elijah got to the town gate he saw the widow woman gathering sticks to make a meal for her and her son which she thought would be their last meal. But God was about to work a miracle in all three of their lives, Elijah, the widow and her son, praise God. Her situation was critical, just like yours may be today, but when the Lord comes on the scene things can change before your very eyes. Then Elijah asked her a question that was going to take faith on her part. He asks her to make him a little bread first and her flour would not run out nor her jug of oil until the day the rain came again. She showed her faith by doing what Elijah said and none of them went without food. The Lord provided for them in their time of need and He didn’t love them anymore then He loves us, so have faith and trust Him to provide for you to.
In Luke 11:9–11 it says Jesus speaking, “So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be open to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks the door will be opened.” In the New Testament Jesus fed the four thousand and also the five thousand plus their children. If Jesus had compassion on the people of His day, He will surely have compassion on us also.
So don’t fear, trust the Lord and express your faith and He will provide for you also. And don’t forget to thank and praise Him. Have a great day and God Bless You.
