Tearing Down Strongholds

I have found that the best way to tear down strongholds in someone’s life is first and foremost for them to know the truth.  I have learned that the greatest and most important thing in life is to know the truth.  I have heard it said that the truth is so important that it is guarded by a bodyguard of lies.  

Have you ever been in bondage and then you heard the truth and that truth set you free?  If you are a true born-again believer the truth has been used to set you free by tearing down the stronghold of unbelief in your life. As we start reading the truth in God’s word and hearing the truth and start growing in the Lord and in our newfound faith and we start drinking in the truth, then strongholds start breaking down in our hearts and lives that may have held us captive for many years.  

One of the greatest problems we face today is that in the world we live in many people claim that there are no absolutes, or truths, which has put many people in bondage to many strongholds in their lives.  The problem for many of us is that we believe the lies we are being told without checking to see if what we are told is the truth.  Even after you become a born-again believer you may be misled by some very innocent people that have been misled by others that may be innocent or some people that are purposely trying to lead them astray.  That is why it is so important to pray, asking the Lord to allow His precious Holy Spirit to teach us and bring the truths back to us when we need them and to help us hide them in our hearts so that we might not sin against Him.  We also need to study God’s word and keep searching for the truth.

God’s word says this in 2 Timothy 2:14-19, “Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, men who have gone astray from the truth saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset the faith of some. Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.”

It was also important in Paul’s day to know the truth, it was so very important because there were people teaching false doctrine and the same thing happens today, whether innocently or on purpose.  For quite a while now I have decided not to just listen to one person, but to listen to different people.  Read Proverbs 15:22-23, “Plans fail when there is no counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. A person has joy in an appropriate answer-how good is a timely word.”  

So, if you are in bondage, pray and get the Lord involved because He doesn’t want any of His people to be in that state of mind.  He has done it for me and He will do it for you!!  I hope this has been an encouragement and a help.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may all of you have a super day!!  And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
