In God We Trust

We may say, “in God we trust,” but do we, and is that really the truth?  We may hear this from many people but how many truly trust in God?  It says this, “in God we trust,” on our money, but how many of us truly trust God with our money and really believe that He rewards a cheerful giver?  I mean really think about it, how many of us pray for something and really believe it is going to happen?  I know we need to have faith to believe but isn’t faith also trusting God to answer our prayer?

If you read chapter 11 of Hebrews, you read about the many people that had faith and trusted in God for the outcome regardless of their situation, they were steadfast in their faith and trust.  Here is a list of the people in Hebrews 11 that had faith and trusted in God:  Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and also Moses’ parents along with Moses, and of course all the Israelites who crossed the Red Sea and Joshua and those that were with him who saw the walls of Jericho fall.  It also mentions Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah and David and Samuel and the prophets.  All of them had faith and trusted that God would come through for them, and he did.  Because of their trust and faith in God they accomplished many things that they would have never accomplished on their own.

Read Hebrews 11:32-34, “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”

When I read and think about the faith and trust these men and woman had, and many others down through the centuries, this is very troublesome.  Jesus said when I return will I find faith on the earth?

Soon things will probably get much worse than it has been getting.  I feel this way, if you are not spending time with the Lord reading His word and seeking Him in prayer, putting Him first in your life and not getting fed spiritually, you may find yourself losing out on the things that cause faith and trust to rise in your heart and what Jesus said may be true in your life.  I know that I am guilty of this, it seems like I don’t trust God as much as I did at one time.  I think the problem is this, the more we have the more we depend on ourselves and the less we have we depend on God!!  If we have very little, we tend to trust in God more.

If you go to other parts of the world where there is much more poverty and a lot less things to get their attention when they hear and believe on the God who made the Universe, their reliance on God seems to be more rigorous and much more deeply rooted, than in the United States, in many cases.  In the United States we have so much more to influence us and get our attention, so unless we intentionally focus on God and put our trust in Him we are left floundering in the faith and the trust department. Is that the reason the word of God says this?  Read Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

It is so easy to conform to the world and its ways and practices but if we seek God and His Kingdom, putting this as our priority, spending time with God daily seeking to know the truth, we will be set free and our faith and trust will grow, and we will become more like Him in the end, praise the Lord!!  Something to think about and may you have a super day.  May the good Lord bless you and yours!!  Don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord!!
