Dogs & Friends

I want you to think about dogs and how faithful they are and, if trained, they are very obedient also. Just think about how they greet you when you come home even if they are having a bad day.  If your dog is having a bad day it is very hard to know because they always seem very happy to see you unless they are very sick.  Even if you are having a bad day and holler at them and scold them it isn’t long and they are right back wagging their tails and wanting you to play with them.  Dogs have a way of showing a special kind of love.

I got a dog at one time from a pound when I was living in another state that looked like a shepherd collie and from the first day I owned him it was like I owned him forever.  It was quite some time ago, but I think it was the same night I got him a friend of mine was going to walk him; he got out the door with him and that was as far as he was going, he wasn’t going any farther without me.  That dog was a good friend and I enjoyed his company and he was very obedient and very protective.  Even when I didn’t treat him like I should, he was always there for me with a wagging tail.

I have had other dogs that were good companions and the one I own now is a great dog and a great companion also.  But I think it is a shame when a person says that their dog is their best friend and I know that there are many people that feel that way.  There are so many people that are looking for love and acceptance and a good friend but can’t seem to find one anywhere so they fill that void with an animal.  Animals make great companions but they should never take the place of a friend in anyone’s life.

It is a shame when someone goes through life without at least one true friend; one that they can confide in and share their deepest needs with, one that they can share secrets with that won’t tell others, one that can be fully trusted.  But there is good news, there is one friend that I know that will never reject you if you truly repent and put your trust in Him and that is my Jesus!!  Jesus will meet you at your need.

You can share anything that you want with Him and you won’t even shock Him because He knows it already and He is faithful and is one that you can always trust.  When you are down and discouraged, and you may feel that way at times, He will always be there for you.  One thing you can count on for sure He will never be too busy for you and His voicemail will never be too full and he will never put you on hold and you will never have to deal with an answering machine again.  He is always ready to listen and to help you whenever you cry out to Him, it may not always be the way you want Him to but He will do what is best for you.

If you fall into sin and truly repent and confess your sin, He will be faithful to forgive you.  Read 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

He will stick closer than a brother and when you face the storms in your life He will give you His perfect peace, love and joy if you continue in the faith.  And if you listen to Him and continue in His Word, He will lead you and guide you into all the truth and that truth will set you free, praise the Lord!!  You will never find a better friend than Jesus, one who suffered, was crucified, died and was buried for your sins and for all those that will put their trust in Him, then He rose again because the grave could not hold Him and the sting of death had no power over Him and now He is the resurrected Savior, the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the Prince of Peace and the Rose of Sharon and much more!!  When you have Him for a friend you have everything you truly need, He will take care of the rest, praise the Lord!!

I have given you something to think about and I hope this has been an encouragement to all who read it.  May the good Lord bless you and yours and may you have a super day!!  And don’t forget to thank and praise the Lord for He is worthy!!
