Our God is in the healing and restoration business. The Bible says in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy, I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” Whether this is talking about the devil or not it fits him very well. He is a deceiver and the father of all lies.
It says in 1st Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaming lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.” Lions are very powerful animals; they’re not called the king of the jungle for nothing. They are smart and very cunning animals. They seek out the young, sick and weak animals to devour and eat saving energy for when they need it the most. Just their roar is frightening and can be heard for a very long distance.
Peter used the lion in this verse to warn Christians that, like the lion, our enemy, the devil, acts the same way. He also seeks the sick, weak, unsuspecting and venerable believers to destroy and devour. I can’t stress this enough; he is very powerful and very capable of destruction, how else could he have deceived a third of the angels into letting him be their leader.
The good news is that believers have been given power over him but the bad news is that many don’t seem to know how to use the power they have and are weak, sick and wobbling, spiritually speaking, making them easy targets for their enemy. Many in the church seem to be deceived; struggling day after day with sin and temptation never seeming to get the victory over sinful thoughts and desires.
They seem to have no joy or excitement in their lives. They walk around like they have been eating sour grapes. I realize that we are not going to feel like jumping up and down all the time but if we are down far more than we are up then where is our strength going to come from? The Bible says in the book of Nehemiah in chapter 8 that the joy of the Lord is our strength. I think the joy of the Lord is a good place to start if you want to be healed and restored!!
As far as our enemy is concerned Paul gave us a way to fight and resist him in Ephesians 6:10-18 which talks about putting on the whole armor of God, if you haven’t read it for a while check it out. The Lord didn’t come to enslave us, He came to set the captive free and He also came to heal the brokenhearted. If you are reading this and are struggling with sin and have lost your joy and excitement and need to be restored think about the Israelites; they were struggling with sin and disobedience many times but when they repented God restored them back to fellowship with Him.
King David had sinned against the Lord and he felt like his bones were broken and he lost his joy and gladness but when he repented he was forgiven and restored back to fellowship with the Lord. David said this in Psalms 51:8–15, “Make me hear joy and gladness; that the bones you have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.”
David knew what he had to do and he did it after being in this condition for about a year. He needed healing and restoration and he received it because he repented. The Lord doesn’t want us to struggle with sin He wants us to be set free of it. So, if this is your problem, do what David did and get the victory, the Lord is waiting. Verses 16-17 tell us what the Lord wants, “For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.”
The rest is up to you, only you can make that choice, I hope you do. God bless and have a super day.
