This might seem like a strange title but it is true, God is God regardless of where you find yourself. In every circumstance and situation that exists He is God and He is love. God is God in the good times and in the bad times, He doesn’t change, He is always God and He is always good, praise His Name.
Maybe if you look at it this way, we are here to receive an overhaul. We are to be transformed into His image and likeness more and more. Sometimes I think people feel that the Lord loves them when they are on the mountaintop, receiving blessings, but when they are in the valley struggling then God turns into an angry un-caring God. I am not saying that God never gets angry, He does, but just because you feel like you are in the valley struggling doesn’t mean that God is angry with you, no you may be in the perfect will of God.
The Word says in Psalms 7:10-11 “My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” God loves the wicked so much that He is angry when they reject Him and will not receive Him to escape from the trap of the bondage of sin. There is no way around it God hates sin in any form but He always loves the sinner.
God loves the righteous and they will be judged also, not for their sin but for their works. Because God loves us so much and is a just judge, He does correct us if we sin but only out of love. If you struggle with this, as I do sometimes, I want to encourage you today. I want to remind you of Jacob’s (also known as Israel) son, Joseph. You can find his story in Genesis chapters 37 through 50.
This was an example of a man that could have ended up blaming God for deserting and abandoning him. Talk about someone walking through a desert, or a valley, it was Joseph. He was his father’s favorite son because he was the son of his old age. His was hated and despised by his brothers. He had a dream then told his brothers about it and they hated him even more because of the meaning of his dream. Then he had another dream which he told to his whole family which made the brothers envious of him. The meaning of the dream was that the whole family would bow down to him one day. As time passed Joseph’s brothers threw him into a pit and then took him out and sold him to some Ishmaelite’s who took him to Egypt where he became a servant to Potiphar, an officer and captain of the guard of Pharaoh’s army.
Do you think he might have wondered where God was all this time? Put yourself in his shoes, how do you think you would have responded? I think many Christians today may have been lashing out at God, but Joseph seemed to keep a positive attitude. Where was God? He was with Joseph.
Joseph was being faithful to Potiphar as a servant then Potiphar’s wife lied about him, causing him to be thrown in jail, falsely accused. But Joseph stayed positive and didn’t blame God or complain about his situation. As time went on Joseph interpreted a dream for the chief butler while he was still in prison which was favorable, and asked him to remember him when he came before pharaoh. When the chief butler was released, he forgot about Joseph so he remained in prison. Finally Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret, but then the butler remembered Joseph and told Pharaoh about him and he was released. Joseph interpreted the dream and was made second in command over Egypt.
To make a long story short his family did come to Egypt and bow down before him and he forgave them and took care of them. He was a man that could have thought God had completely forgotten about him and been angry at him. But God was with him all the time, He never left him.
Remember this; sometimes when we go through devastating times is when the Lord is going to abundantly bless us. The Bible says that God will never leave us or forsake us, ever, He doesn’t move, we do. God is always working everything out for our good, praise God. So if you are going through a ‘valley experience,’ don’t think right away that God is mad at you, just press into Him, think positive and allow Him to help you grow. God bless and have a great day.
