Yesterday’s tidbit was on love and marriage and how it takes three to make a great, fulfilled, lasting marriage; a man, a woman and the Lord. I am not saying that there are no unbelievers that seem to have happy marriages but they lack the most important ingredient, the Lord, you will never have that perfect peace, love and joy without Him. My feeling is without the Lord you will only have a second class marriage and I know because I have been in both situations. I know that the church experiences many divorces but I realize that not everyone that claims to be a Christian is truly born-again. I am totally convinced if two people are truly born-again and love the Lord, they will have a happy fulfilled relationship and marriage.
When my wife and I got married neither one of us was living a Christian life and I didn’t even love her because I didn’t know what love was. I was a very miserable person with a hard heart and a bad attitude. Popping pills, drinking, smoking reefers and cigarettes and partying was my lifestyle. I had lost so many things before we were married that I had a hard time attaching myself to anything or anybody outside of my motorcycles that I owned. Then the day came that I totally committed my life to the Lord and I had such a radical change that people took notice right away. It wasn’t long after that when my wife received the Lord and what a difference that made in our lives and our marriage. I really don’t know if we would be together today if it were not for the Lord, I really don’t think so. We have been married for a little over 34 years which to me is amazing and it just gets better and better all the time, praise the Lord.
But marriage is not the only thing that the Lord needs to be in control of, He needs to be in control of your town, city, state, country and nation. When this country was founded it was founded on freedom of religion, Christian principles and values, it was a thriving country. For many years now our freedoms have been taken away little by little. If you can, think back to what it was like forty or fifty years ago compared to what it is like today. There was prayer in schools and even religious instruction. There were plenty of jobs to be had and churches were budding all over. You could walk down the street at night without fear of being mugged, raped or killed. You could leave your doors unlocked at any time of the day or night. You didn’t have to screen your TV for language, violence, nudity or suggested innuendos and abortion was not a booming business and on it goes. Very few things were open on Sunday’s and Christians thought of the Sabbath as a day of rest. At that time you could trust your elected officials to do the right thing, for the most part, and the Supreme Court judges legislated from the constitution and not from the bench but over the years so many things have changed.
And what is the main problem? Many people have decided to take things into their own hands and do their own thing. They have all but thrown the constitution out and they have banned prayer in schools. They have been trying to do away with anything to do with real Christianity and pushed false religions on our society. Our economy is terrible, jobs are harder to find and people are scared of what the future holds. Just about everything you look at has to be screened and abortion is the law of the land, and I could go on and on but if you live in this country you know what I am talking about. It all comes down to this, it says in Psalms 127:1–5, “Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep. Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.”
When you take the Lord out of the equation you’re left with man’s wisdom and we can see what that has done. Ever since we started to eliminate the Lord from our existence we have ushered in a curse instead of a blessing. Many in the church are also guilty, having conformed to the world in many ways and haven’t repented and are reaping what they sowed. Abortion is running rapid killing millions of babies over the years. These babies are a blessing from the Lord, a special gift. We throw them away like they are garbage and we act like we are gods holding life and death in our hands. How can we expect the Lord to bless us?
If the church would truly repent, the Lord would forgive and the church would be so much more effective and our prayers would be answered and God would heal our land. If the church would get right then we could pray more effectively and maybe a revival would break out and many more people in the world would be saved and God’s blessings would be upon our country once again. Weak Christians, because of sin in their lives, can never accomplish God’s will and plan for their lives. Please do your part, repent if you need to then pray for a revival to take place and for God to bless our country once again before it is too late. God bless you and have a great day!!
